Letter from the Chairman 2013
The games of 2012 were once again a great success with good crowds defying the impending rain to make a great spectacle for visitors and locals alike. We had fantastic TV coverage from Rory McGrath, Will Mellor and Michael Portillo showing off our great wee games to many thousands of people all over the world.
Games day itself starts at 11.45 at the Cross in Dunkeld where the Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Pipe Band strike up for a few tunes. At 12.30 they start their traditional march from the North Car Park through Dunkeld over the bridge and into the Games Park led by our chieftain Thomas Steuart Fothringham and myself.
This is my first year as chairman and I would like to thank the committee for the huge amount of work they do and of course the previous chairmen for their dedication and leadership in bringing forward improvements to the games and the park which will help our games be enjoyed for many years to come. Finally a big thank you to all our patrons and sponsors without whose support it would be impossible to run these games to the high standard we aim for. Myself and the committee look forward to seeing you on Saturday 31st of August.
Be sure a warm welcome awaits you at Birnam games.
